Berte Qvarn’s new Kaplan turbine, manufactured by TURAB, was commissioned in December 2023. The delivery included the entire turbine assembly, including generator and electrical control equipment. The turbine has water lubricated guide bearing and an oil-free runner hub. The waterway will get no grease or oil pollution. The distributor is regulated by a hydraulic actuator and shut down by a counterweight, which also acts as a safety device in the event of a power failure.
