At Kungsfors power station, a Francis twin turbine was refurbished in 2023-2024. It was equipped with new stainless steel Francis runners on a new turbine shaft. The turbine was updated with new head covers and associated labyrinths, as well as a new roller bearing. The distributors got new bottom rings and self -lubricating bearings. The wicket gates could be reused after some damage repair. The brake was overhauled, a new mechanic hydraulic overspeed protector and a new hydraulic pressure unit, for controlling the distributor, were also installed.
